Growing up

I had to make a short post about how much Ashlynn has changed over the last few weeks.  She has grown up so much.  I miss a baby doll....but I love how much fun she is to play with now.

Easter!

For Easter, Parowan does a little egg hunt for kids.  We had never been before becuase we had no children who could participate but we thought we'd give it a try.  I'd have to say I liked how they did it.  They lined up the kids into age groups.  The older kids were able to race and get the candy spread across this basball field but for the younger kids (2 and under) we just walked through a line of baskets and each kids could take one from each basket.  Ashlynn loved it and I loved not stressing over her getting trampled and getting treats :)

Grandma Chris came down to join in on all the fun!!....haha.  The whole thing lasted about 2 minutes.

After treats Grandma brought over some eggs for decorating.  I can already tell Ash is going to be a meticulous person.  She was concdentrating SO hard on making each egg perfect.  I love all her faces while she was painting.

Then we went outside for an egg hunt! Ashlynn enjoyed going and finding all the eggs grandma hid.  By the end though I think we hid a few too many cause she could barely carry her bucket.

Hogle Zoo

Over Easter break Danny and I both had the week off.  It was also the week of my birthday and Danny left it up to me what I wanted to do.  Even though we both had the weekend off we really only had about 2 days to get out of town.  I wanted to do something fun with Ashlynn but not have the stress of travelling too far.  So for my birthday I wanted to take Ash to the zoo! Danny has a mission companion (The Davis's) who were kind enough to also let us stay at their house for a night.  They have two boys and Ashlynn loved being able to play with some kids her age.  Thanks Todd and Julie!

Well when we got to the zoo it was still pretty cold and actually kinda busy. We went on a Wednesday thinking not many people would be there but there were quite a few for a cold wednesday morning (**Everytime we go to a big city all the people everywehre really give me and danny anxiety.  We really like our small towns :)).  I'd have to say too that I really wasn't impressed by our little Hogle Zoo.  Infact there were times I was a little disterbed by how small their living quarters were...and they really didn't have hardly any animals.  But I tried not to think about it becuase Ashlynn loved being able to see all the animals and make the sounds to each one.  She really has grown up alot these last few months.

The Giraffe got a little too close for comfort for Ashlynn.  He really got really close and so she was trying to run away before we could get a pic.

We stopped by Heritage park after the Zoo.

The first night we were up there we stayed at a hotel right in downtown.  After we had gone to the zoo and park we deicded to check out the City Creek Center since it was like 3 miles from our hotel.  Oh my goodness I don't know how people do it in city's.  I know I just said this but it was CRAZY! you could not even walk in and out of the stores.  We found some work clothes for Danny for work at Macy's and then we were out of there.  I can't handle all the people around.  Kudos to all my city friends :)

All Is well

Everthing turned out good for Ashlynn which is great. Shes been doing much better and back to her old self. She had a hard time getting back to her old sleep patterns so I started giving her oatmeal again at night. I think with all the weight she lost while being sick made her really hungry after so she was waking up screaming at night because she was so hungry. I realized that I don't function well with a sick child. I think I took her being sick just as bad as she was. I never thought I would feel this way about someone else being sick until I had my own

So sick :(

Ashlynn has sure had some rough last few weeks.  About 3 weeks ago she started acting different, not eating much, being kinda lazy and moody.  She then had a day that threw up like 6 times.  I learned very quickly that no place in the house is safe with a baby throwing up.  Lets just say I changed mine and ashlynns clothes twice, the bed sheets, the kitchen floor, the front table and baby's room rocking chair, changing table and  carpet.  :) It was an interesting day.
Then since that day vomity day she started to have REALLY smelly urine.  Almost like she had a dirty diaper stinky but it was just wet.  Well for about 4 or 5 days later she kept getting fevers around 100.  We thought it might be just an infection she's trying to fight off, teeth or whatever.  Well last Sunday she just woudln't eat or drink anything and fever was up to 101.  She could barely hold her head up and all she would do is lay on the couch, or cuddle on me.  Still no eating or drinking.  By Monday  her fever spiked super high.  Up to 102.  It was miserable.  All she did was lay on the couch and sweat.  The night was the worst trying to get her to relax and go to sleep.
So Tuesday morning I called the Dr. and got her right in.  They took her temperature and weight and becuase of the vomiting/fever/no eating she had lost weight.  After telling them about the smelly urine we had decided it was probably a bladder infection and they would need to do a culture on her urine.  Well...you can't really get an 18 month old to pee in a cup so they used a cathetar to get the urine. (This was not a pleasant experiece as a mother....)  Even without testing it they could tell it was an infection because it came out bloody :( so sad.
They said that it takes about 2 days to run a urine culture to find out what kind of anibiotic would be used to treat her kind of infection.  So they told me they could make their best guess on what kind of antibiotic to give her, or just no medicine and wait until her culture results came back.  I clearly wanted something to make it seem like I was helping her....so she was put on sulfa-something antibiotic. Well two days later...there really wasn't improvement. High fever, no eating, very little drinking, not much sleeping and LOTS of high pitched screaming (I've had bladder infections and UTI's and the screaming was caused after everytime she peed.   It really does burn.  So sad to watch)  So I called again on Thursday to see if the results were back and they called and hospital and found out they weren't right on their best guess.  The kind she had was acutally making the bacteria she had worse.  So they changed her meds to amoxicillian.  After about two days she finally started eating some ceral. Then she was starting to act much more like herself.  such a relief! I don't function well when I have a sick child and there's nothing I can do for her.

Well, today I got a call from the hostipal that said I needed to come back in and get an ultrasound on Ashlynn.  I guess at her age it's not super common to get a Urinary Tract Infection and so they need to check to make sure there's not blockage in her bladder that caused her infection. They asked me to hydrate her well and keep her bladder full for the ultrasound.  That's going to be kinda hard to do with an 18 month old....wish us luck!

18 months

My baby girl is growing fast. We were a little late at getting her in to her 18 month appt. But all was still good. She didn't gain as much weight as I thought she should have and she dropped pretty low in her percentage. But when I talked to our Dr. about it he didn't seem too worried. She was really sick for about a week in the last three months and between 15 and 18 months she got about 8 more teeth. So I'm thinking that had alot to do with it. She has a good appetite most of the time. He said I could give her some Carnation Good Start in her milk to help her if I wanted, or we could start putting more butter on everything. :) She also got really tall over the last 3 months so that could be part of it too. She went from being in about 30% for weight to 8%.
Height 32.5 in. 75%
Weight 21.8 lbs 8 %

I liked how this picture turned out on one of the settings on our camera

Look mom, No Hands!!

Like I said she is getting really tall. Everytime I go in to get her in the mornings I can't believe how big she is. She's not my little peanut anymore.

Good Morning!
