San Antonio

So I bet you're all wondering where we went for vacation....Of all the places in the world we could have gone...Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica, St. Lucia...We went to TEXAS!!!! YAY. Yep we went to San Antonio. But there's a few reasons why. First, One of the downsides of flying standby is seat availability. No seat, we don't get on. Well all the flights were filling up to the popular places (presidents day weekend...and February aren't the best times to go to warm places because of whale watching and 3 day weekend) So needless to say we thought about Florida too but it was way expensive. Well on Friday before we were to leave we had talked about how I wanted to see San Antonio because I've heard it was a cool city and would like to see it...so we decided why not now. It would be an easier flight for Ashlynn...not super expensive and warm. Which was what we wanted. So off to Texas we went

We were in San Anotnion for about 2 days then we drove down to Corpus Christi for 2 days. San Anotnio was much much prettier. I didn't realize C. C. was such an industrial, oil drilling refinery type of place. It really wasn't very pretty. And there were no mountains to see at all in any direction. But we had a fun time and saw lots of stuff and it was relaxing.

We also tried some new food that we hadn't ever had before. We tried good sushi for the first time in C. C. Becuase it is a beach town we figured they would have good seafood, which they did. However we learend that we are not sushi people! we had a california roll which we were both able to handle but then we got a philidelphia roll which had raw salmon in it....and we were both trying hard not to gag because of the texture. It tasted good...but the texture was bad in my mouth....I kinda gag just thinking about it. But hey! now we know. We also ate at this amazing Thai food place. the presentation of the food was just as good as the food! so we LOVE Thai food. Anyway....here are a few pictures. I need to learn how to make the collages so I can do more at a time.

The pictures below are not in order at all. But I didn't want to sort through them :) We started out in San Antonio then went to Corpus Christi. We took a TON more. but I just added a few. ENJOY
Eating in our hotel.

We went to the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi...It was fun to see the Animals and they had a dolphin show so that was the best part.

They had a part in the aquarium where you were allowed the touch the stingrays. So we did and they were slimy!

on the top deck on the USS lexington. I can't even explain how big this ship was. It was seriously like a city on water. They had everything like barber shops, dentist office, post office church room and a full on flight deck on top for the airplanes to land. They also had a aiplane hanger to store the planes which is why the wings fold up on the navy planes.

There was a BIG navy ship/museum in corpus Christi we went on called the USS Lexington. It was really cool to see how people in the Navy will live for months. It's crazy.

We went to the Alamo. It was interesting to learn about and kinda weird at the same time that I had gone this long in my life without really knowing what the alamo was all about. It was fun to walk through

The Riverwalk in San Antonio. The riverwalk is like a totally different city down below the real city. It was a pretty and nice stroll

Just got on the airplane! She did so well. Overall she actually did really well traveling considering how much time she spent in her stroller.

Ashlynn playing with her new friend Leila. She is our friends Eric and Cynthia's daughter. It was fun to go out to dinner and hang out with them before our vacation. We definitely need to go on vacation somewhere with them.

new backpack

So we got a new backpack for Ashlynn to ride around in. It is a nice backpack, but we figured we would use it with all of our kids. We liked this one ht best because ti had the best review AND because inside the backpack is a seat for her to sit in. It's not just a strap like harness that you let her dangle in. It's an actual seat! She's kinda small for it now but it will be nice for hiking and vacations and when Danny takes her shed hunting with him while I'm at work :)

Update....My sister Tasha reminded my that I didn't put what kind we got...and that's kinda important i guess so you all know. We got a Deuter Kid Comfort II. Danny definitely did his research and we got it on sale so that was nice too. Thanks Tash!

Six months!

I loved these pictures of her 'reading' :) so cute

My goodness I have a six month old. We went to the Dr. Today and she is just a growing. Ashlynn weighs 14.14 lbs (29%) is 25.5 in (36 %) and has a nice round head (thankfully) but I don't remember the circumference size. She really dislikes being on her tummy and has only rolled from her back to stomach like a couple of times. but I think it's cause she really likes being on her back because when i put her on her tummy...she's on her back in the blink of an eye. She loves oatmeal, and squash and milk :) I didn't think she liked green beans...but we tried them again and she seemed much better. She absolutely loves to pull things out of something...like the diaper bag...or anything that is inside something. She has very good hand eye coordination (for when she plays the piano...:)) and loves to make BIG splashes at bath time and gets everyone soaked. She is such a happy baby and loves to eat her feet. She also likes to save her dirty diapers for when I get home from work :) Oh how I love her and don't know what I did for this long without her
Danny and I are doing well. Right now we are having a difficult time making career decisions for Danny. There are a few options for him now that he is finishing up school and we are having a difficult time what to do next...do we stay comfortable with the situation we have now and him not move up....or do we move forward with the possibility of moving from Utah and family so he can make more. There are so many different variables to our situation that it is making it very hard to make a decision. I sometimes wish there was one good answer and we knew exactly what we should do next and knew it was the right choice for us. Sooo who knows. I'll keep you posted on things to come.

PS along with my post about ashlynn loving to pull things out of things....she just dumped over my bowl of decorative pine cones on our table...and is now eating them...silly girl!

Sick Day...?

So Ashlynn has been doing much better. She doesn't sound near as bad. Her nose is now really runny but I think that's a good thing. Danny didn't have to go to work until today so he was able to stay home with her Monday and Tuesday and she didn't have to go to the babysitter. Well last night April (babysitter) called me and said her three year old and probably her older two girls all have strep and she has put them on an antibiotic but they are still contagious for 24 hours. Well I didn't really want RSV AND strep so I talked to me mom but she is going to a quilting conference, called my sister but she as a little one year old...who probably doesn't want RSV, sooo I get to stay home :) Which really doesn't make me sad at all. I can take a sick day...without being sick! yay to me! oh the simple pleasures in life.

update

She loves to feed herself while I'm at work. She's tries to feed herself too when I feed her...but it doesn't really work...:)

Gotta love those big eyes :)

Ashlynn is almost six months! sadly, she is sick :( She has had a stuffy nose since about the time I went back to work after Christmas break in January. I had a cold and sadly...she got one too. It's kinda hard when you're a school teacher to avoid it. Well Wednesday she started to get a cough that just sounded horrible and she no longer had a stuffy nose, she was then congested in her chest. However she really didn't act like she wasn't feeling well cause she was just as jumpy and smiley as ever (jumping/bouncing is her new favorite thing) so I thought it was just a cold but I wanted to take her to the pediatrician before the weekend just in case it got worse. then i wouldn't have to call the on-call dr. Well I'm glad I did cause sure enough she tested positive for RSV. Not really what I thought was going to happen. I don't think she has a too severe case and that we caught it early but they gave us a nebulizer to use to bring up her blood oxygen level, help with her cough and clean the mucus out of her chest so hopefully it will help.
Other than the RSV she's doing really well and growing really fast. She still sleeps a ton like she did as an infant. She goes to bed about eight and then will get her last feeding at 10. then eats again at 6:30am before I go to work then she just falls back asleep till like 9:30. Can't complain I guess. And she still takes about a 2 1/2 hour nap in the afternoon and about an hour nap around 4:30. She is also starting to sit up by herself and loves to stand up and bounce when you hold her. She has her 6 month checkup on the 15th so we'll get to see how big she's gotten.
Danny and I still don't know where we're going on vacation in two weeks. We are extremely indecisive. We don't want to spend a lot of money but we want it to be nice....so it's causing some difficulty. But we are for sure going to go somewhere!

We had a few days in January when it seriously felt like spring. so we heard about a freestanding arch just like 10 miles out of parowan so we decided to go after it. It was a fun little hour adventure. Nice to get out of the house at least.
Me and Sadie. The arch wasn't very big as you can see, but it was still fun

love you!
